Vikings' Smith named to 4A all-star team

Siuslaw Vikings catcher Alexis Smith has been selected to play in Sunday's Senior All-Star Softball Series at Jane Sanders Stadium on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene.

"This is an outstanding honor for Alexis, to be selected amongst the top seniors in the 4A ranks across the entire state of Oregon," Siuslaw coach Sean O'Mara said.

"I am beyond excited and pleased for her as it is the ultimate accumulation of all her hard work and dedication to the sport of softball that she loves so much."

Smith is one of 18 seniors chosen from all-league teams in the Oregon School Activities Association Class 4A ranks. Smith was second-team all-Sky-Em League this past season for the Lady Vikings.

The 4A all-stars will play the 5A all-stars at 10 a.m. and the 6A all-stars at 12:30 p.m.

Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for students.
