Siuslaw junior Hannah Rannow ran the second-fastest girls 1,500 meters in school history Sunday at the Portland Track Festival High Performance Meet at Lewis and Clark College.
Rannow finished in 4 minutes, 44.36a seconds to place 12th in an elite field of 16 in the women's open. Simone Plourde of Saint-Laurent Select of Montreal won in 4:29.11a.
Raelyn Robinson set the Siuslaw standard of 4:42.62a at the Jesuit Twilight Relays on May 7, 2010. Robinson later that season won the state 4A title in 4:47.46a.
Robinson will be inducted into the Siuslaw Athletic Hall of Fame in August.
Rannow's previous personal record in the 1,500 was 4:50.75a, which she ran May 3 in winning the Wally Ciochetti Invitational in Cottage Grove.
Rannow's run Sunday capped a remarkable junior year that included winning Coast Radio's Female Athlete of the Year Award this past Thursday.
