Rannow misses cut at U.S. Senior Open


Florence golfer Bob Rannow's first run at the U.S. Senior Open has ended after 36 holes.

Rannow, 50, the PGA pro and director of golf at Ocean Dunes Golf Links, fashioned a 4-over-par 74 Friday for a two-day total of 145 at the par 70 Warren Course at Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.

The projected cut was 1-over 141, with Steve Stricker leading with a 14-under 126.

Rannow was steady through the first 27 holes of play, with 23 pars, 3 bogeys and a birdie.

Rannow, playing the front nine second Friday, was 4-over par on his final eight holes, with a double-bogey 7 on the 568-yard par-5 No. 2 hole and bogey 5s on the par-4 No. 6, 7 and 9 holes.

Rannow shot birdie 3s on holes No. 1 and No. 3, his 10th and 12th holes of the day.

Playing partners Eddie Hargett, an amateur, and PGA pro Jon Fiedler were 11 and 13 strokes over par, respectively. Hargett had a 74 Friday to finish at 151 and Fiedler a 77 to finish at 153.
