Welton expands lead, ACC moves to second

Welton Construction has opened a three-game lead and ACC has taken over second place after five weeks of the Miller League Softball season at Miller Park.

Wednesday, Welton battered Beachcomber, 26-13, and held off Lofy Construction, 23-19, to improve to 9-1 with four weeks of season play remaining.

ACC whipped Lofy, 27-6, before edging Beachcomber, 14-13, in a showdown for second place.

ACC is 6-4, Beachcomber 5-5 and Lofy 0-10.

Next Wednesday, the 5:30 p.m. games are ACC vs. Welton on the South Field and Beachcomber vs. Lofy on the North Field.

In the nightcaps at 7, ACC faces Beachcomber on the North Field and Welton meets Lofy on the South Field.

The league's Home Run Derby is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, while the end-of-season tournament has been rescheduled for Saturday, Aug. 24, both at Miller Park.
