SMS Vikings boys finish first, girls fourth


The Siuslaw Middle School boys were first and the girls fourth Saturday at the Woahink Lake Cross Country Invitational at Honeyman State Park.

The Vikings boys had 59 points to 75 by second-place North Bend. Lincoln Middle School of Cottage Grove was third with 107.

The Lady Vikings had 117 points, trailing Lincoln (41), North Bend (82) and Harbor Lights (84).

Eighth-grader Brayden Linton had the top Siuslaw boys time of 11 minutes, 26.6 seconds for the 3,000-meter course to place third overall. Dylan Jensen was sixth in 11:36.4 and Talan Ross seventh in 11:36.7.

Seventh-grader Addison McNeill had the top Lady Vikings time of 13:38.2 to place 11th overall.

In the high school junior varsity races, the Vikings boys were seventh among 12 teams. The girls JV race was the last of the day, scheduled for a 1:45 p.m. start.

Siuslaw freshman Cayden Gray was 14th overall in a personal-record 19:29.0 for the 5,000-meter course.
