Thornton, Terry lead Vikings by Taft, 62-51

Sophomores Braydon Thornton (18) and Brody Terry (15) combined for 33 points Tuesday to lead the Siuslaw Vikings to a 62-51 victory over the Taft Tigers in a non league boys basketball game at Glenn Butler Court.

Siuslaw (5-7) next plays the Sky-Em/Skyline Crossover, battling North Valley at noon Friday at Marshfield and Mazama at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at North Bend Middle School.

Senior Lucas Hindman led Taft (2-6) with 15 points, all on 3-pointers and all in the first half.

Junior Jacob Foskett added 10 for the Vikings.

Siuslaw grabbed a 17-11 in the first quarter, hitting five 3-pointers, and built a 7-point lead at halftime, 37-30.

The Vikings increased their lead to 10, 51-41, entering the fourth quarter.

Taft cut the lead to six points, 51-45, early in the final quarter, but the Vikings responded with a 9-point run and a 60-45 lead with a minute to play.

The Vikings made 10 shots from 3-point range, four by Thornton and two by Terry.

Foskett, Liam McClellan, Elijah Blankenship and Chad Hughes also drained 3-point shots.
