Both set those marks Friday with second-place finishes, Blankenship to 2A standout Holly Hutton of Bandon and Hughes to Alexander Garcia-Silver of 5A North Bend.
Blankenship finished in 2 minutes, 24.92a seconds to Hutton's personal-record 2:23.87a, while Hughes ran a PR 9:33.10a to a PR 9:17.17a by Garcia-Silver. Hutton is a junior and Garcia-Silver a sophomore.
Blankenship also is No. 5 in the 1,500 in 5:15.05a.
