The Siuslaw Vikings track and field team will compete in a five-school Sky-Em JV Districts meet Tuesday instead of traveling to Newport for a three-school meet with Newport and Philomath.

"Newport won't let us come to them for sports since Lane County has moved to extreme (covid risk)," Siuslaw coach Chris Johnson said, "so track and field will travel to Junction City on Tuesday rather than Newport."

Also competing are Elmira, Cottage Grove, Marist and host Junction City. Marshfield is not entered.

Field events get underway at 4:30 p.m., track events at 5.

VIKINGS IN TOP 10

Siuslaw senior throws specialist Andrea Osbon and junior middle distance runner Rylee Colton are in the Class 4A top 10 in three events each with less than two weeks before district and three weeks before state.

Osbon is No. 2 in both the shot put and discus and No. 10 in the javelin, while Colton is No. 4 in the 1,500 meters, No. 5 in the 3,000 and No. 8 in the 800.

Senior Brea Blankenship is No. 3 in both the 800 and the 1,500, while Senior Gracie Freudenthal is No. 7 in the 100 hurdles and No. 8 in the 500.

Seven Vikings are in the boys top 10 in the individual events, including sophomore Samuel Ulrich, Junior Chad Hughes, junior Camp Lacouture and senior Skyler Loomis, who are in the top 10 in two events each.
