Vikings hold off Bulldogs, 46-34, to go to 3-2

Recap: The Vikings scored three fourth-quarter touchdowns, the finale on a 20-yard pass on fourth down with 1:18 to play, to hold off the Bulldogs. Creswell quarterback Connor Hanson had a 76-yard TD pass to go with TD runs of 57, 43, 2 and 60 yards to keep the Bulldogs nipping at the Vikings' heels. The victory lifted Siuslaw into second place in the Mountain Valley Conference, setting up another possible shootout this coming Friday against Elmira at Hans Petersen Memorial Field. Elmira beat Pleasant Hill 39-0 on Friday, bouncing back from a 40-32 loss to Creswell the previous week. Note: Scoring from Creswell incomplete because of Coast Radio broadcast issues. After Elmira, the Vikings close the regular season with three homecoming games, including their own Oct. 21 against Sisters, plus homecomings at North Marion (Aurora) on Oct. 14 and Pleasant Hill on Oct. 28. The Mountain Valley Conference's top three teams advance to the 16-team OSAA 3A playoffs. Siuslaw is defending 3A champion.
