Cottage Grove rallies to stun Vikings, 47-44


The Cottage Grove Lions outscored the Siuslaw Vikings 23-10 in the fourth quarter Friday, rallying for a 47-44 victory in a girls high school basketball game at Siuslaw.

Cottage Grove won for the first time in seven games, while the Vikings fell to 1-4.

Siuslaw next plays at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at Philomath.

Taylor Harsh scored 11 of her team-high 13 points in the fourth quarter, hitting three 3-pointers, to lead Cottage Grove.

Junior Destinie Tatum had 17 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Vikings.

Siuslaw had 34 turnovers and committed 30 personal fouls in the game. Three Vikings fouled out: Sierra Potter, Abby Watkins and Taylor Dotson.

Far West League play begins Jan. 15, with Siuslaw opening at South Umpqua.
