Vikings fall at North Bend in finale, 51-30


The North Bend Bulldogs earned their share of a three-way tie for second place in Far West League girls basketball on Friday with a 51-30 victory over the visiting Siuslaw Vikings.

Siuslaw finished its season 1-9 in league and 5-17 overall. North Bend finished 6-4 and 14-7, tied with Douglas and Marshfield for second place.

Brookings-Harbor — 10-0 and 20-4 — went unbeaten in league for the second year in a row with a 74-18 victory over visiting South Umpqua.

Douglas beat Marshfield in overtime, 39-36, at Winston.

North Bend plays Douglas on Monday at Coquille in a league playoff game. The winner will play Tuesday at Coquille against Marshfield, which won a coin flip for the bye.

Senior center Taylor Dotson led the Vikings with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Senior point guard Sierra Potter had a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 10 points, while juniors Claire Waggoner and Destinie Tatum had 9 rebounds each.
