Vikings end their season at South Umpqua

Tuesday will be the final game in a Siuslaw Vikings baseball uniform for seniors Ryan Denning, Scott Gordon, Michael Mason, Caleb Paredes and Kenneth Thrall.

The Vikings end their season at South Umpqua, with the first pitch at 5 p.m. at Tri City.

Siuslaw enters the game 5-9 in the Far West League, tied with Douglas for fourth place, and 8-14 overall.

Friday, the Vikings' last hopes of postseason were dashed by league-champion North Bend, which swept Siuslaw in a doubleheader in North Bend, 17-2 and 14-0.

North Bend is now 13-1 in league and 18-4 overall. The Bulldogs are assured the league's top seed in the upcoming Oregon School Activities Association 4A playoffs.

Senior pitchers Brad Haga and Tyler Laskey pitched gems on Senior Night at North Bend, the right-hander Haga limiting the Vikings to 2 hits in the opener and the left-hander Laskey striking out 12 and tossing a 1-hit shutout in the nightcap.

Senior shortstop Kenneth Thrall had all three hits for Siuslaw, all singles.
