4 Far West League schools in 4A playoffs


Far West League softball champion Douglas has been seeded No. 8 and will receive a bye in the Oregon School Activities Association's 24-school 4A playoffs.

Marshfield will host Junction City while North Bend will visit Sweet Home and South Umpqua will be at Mazama in play-in games.

Play-in games

  • Junction City at Marshfield, 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19
  • Hidden Valley at Astoria, 4 p.m. Thursday, May 19
  • Yamhill-Carlton at Corbett, 5 p.m. Thursday, May 19
  • Baker at Crook County, 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 20
  • North Bend at Sweet Home, 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 18
  • North Valley at Ontario, 3 p.m. Friday, May 20
  • La Grande at North Marion, 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 18
  • South Umpqua at Mazama, 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 20

Teams will be reseeded after the play-in games.

Also drawing byes are McLoughlin, Scappoose, Banks, Gladstone, Henley, Elmira and Newport.

Round 1 of the playoffs is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25.

The quarterfinals are May 27, the semifinals May 31 and the championship game June 4.

Douglas is 18-5 overall and won the league title with a 13-2 record.

The Trojans have a tuneup game Friday at Henley.
