Bingham 5th, Mans 7th in state 1,500 final


Siuslaw Vikings juniors Morgan Bingham and Celie Mans finished fifth and seventh, respectively, in Saturday's finals of the girls 1,500-meter run in the Oregon School Activities Association 4A track and field championships at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Bingham clocked a personal-record 4 minutes, 49.05a seconds, Mans a 4:50.97a, less than a second off her personal best.

Yamhill-Carlton senior Perrin Xthona won in 4:43.01a, a half second better than runnerup Kaylee Mitchell, a sophomore at Astoria.
