Siegel repeats as girls 100 hurdles champ


Siuslaw Vikings senior Mikaela Siegel successfully defended her 100-meter hurdles title Saturday at the Oregon School Activities Association 4A track and field championships at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Siegel was timed in 15.61a seconds, a 4A state season best and personal record. Marshfield senior Isabel Groth was second in 15.69.

Siegel later finished fifth place in the triple jump with a season-best 33 feet, 8.5 inches. She set her personal record of 34-10 at the 2015 Far West League district championships.

Through 11 events, Siuslaw was third with 45 points. Astoria had 71.5 and Marshfield 49.5.

100 hurdles: Mikaela Siegel finished 1st in a personal-record and 4A state season-best 15.61a seconds.
800: Destinie Tatum finished 1st in a personal-record 2:17.62a.
200: Annmarie Precht finished 4th in a personal-record 26.30a.
triple jump: Mikaela Siegel finished 5th at 33 feet, 8.5 inches.
