Junior Sailor Hutton of Bandon and senior Celie Mans of Siuslaw finished 1-2 for the third year in a row Wednesday in the girls varsity division of the North Bend Tugman Invitational cross country meet at Tugman State Park.
Hutton finished the 5,000-meter run in 18 minutes, 32.85 seconds to 18:36.00 by Mans, the state Class 4A defending champion. Sophomore Jazmin Chavez of Marshfield was third in 19:57.70.
Mans clipped more than a minute off her personal record of 19:40.5 for the event, set last year. She ran 19:42.4 as a sophomore and 20:16.5 as a freshman.
Senior Destinie Tatum, the defending 4A state 800-meter champion, was the second Viking to finish among the girls, clocking 22:50.51 to shave 2 minutes off her best time in the event.
North Bend won the girls team title with 41 points. South Umpqua was second with 53, Siuslaw third with 55, Bandon fourth with 97 and Myrtle Point fifth with 111.
Junior Isaac Griffes was sixth in a personal-record 17:21.79 and senior Jack Pickell seventh in 17:22.00 to lead the Siuslaw boys to a second-place finish.
Pickell, hurt much of last season, was only 4 seconds off his personal best of 17:22.0 set in the 2014 state championships.
Bandon won the boys team title with 45 points, followed by the Vikings with 62, North Bend with 77, Marshfield with 118 and Brookings-Harbor with 120.
Senior Michael Brown of North Bend won the boys individual title in 16:07.62, with junior Hunter Hutton of Bandon second in 16:28.29.
