Elmira drops Siuslaw to 0-2 on the season

The Elmira Falcons defeated the Siuslaw Vikings 51-44 Friday in a nonleague girls basketball game at Glenn Butler Court.

The loss dropped the Vikings to 0-2 on the season. The Falcons are 1-1.

Senior Destinie Tatum led the Vikings in scoring with 9 points and rebounds with 8 before fouling out for the second time in two games.

Senior Abby Watkins added 7 points and team highs of 4 steals, 2 blocked shots and 3 assists.

Seniors Brittany Long and Claire Waggoner and sophomore Madison Reynolds had 5 points each for Siuslaw.

The Vikings hit 17 of 43 field goals (39.5 percent) and 8 of 27 free throws (29.6 percent).

Elmira senior Miranda Jensen connected on six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 23 points.

Siuslaw next plays Tuesday, hosting Newport at 6 p.m. at Glenn Butler Court. Newport is 1-0 with a 61-58 home win over Elmira.
