Junior Richard Huff placed second in the 120-pound division Saturday to lead the Siuslaw Vikings to a 13th-place finish in the 23-school Perry Burlison Wrestling Classic at Cascade High School in Turner.
Marshfield ran away with the team title with 183 points, with Sweet Home second with 157.5. The Vikings had 54.
Huff scored three straight major decisions to reach the finals, where he lost to top-seeded Legend Lamer of Crescent Valley by fall in 54 seconds.
Huff was 3-1 in the tournament, including a 12-4 victory over No. 2 seed Robert Watkins of Sweet Home in the opening round.
Huff accounted for 21 of the Vikings' 54 team points.
Vikings senior Scott Simmons was 3-2 and scored 12 points at 145, senior Kainan Lane was 3-2 and scored 11 points at 285 and senior Nick Steinman was 2-3 and scored 9 points at 170.
Siuslaw senior Eyza Abbas finished second in her weight class in a separate girls tournament.
"Notably, she beat a wrestler who had beaten her last year on her way to the finals," Vikings coach Neil Wartnik said. "She has shown great improvement."
Siuslaw next competes in the North Bend Coast Classic this coming Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9-10.
