The Sutherlin Bulldogs scored the final 7 points of the third quarter to break open a close game Tuesday en route to a 58-40 victory over the visiting Siuslaw Vikings in a nonleague girls basketball game.

The Lady Vikings, 2-5, return home Friday to host the Pleasant Hill Billies. Tipoff is 6 p.m. at Glenn Butler Court.

Sophomore Paige Bailey tossed in a game-high 16, freshman Sierra Nielsen 15 and sophomore Jadyn Vermillion 14 for the Bulldogs.

Siuslaw senior Richards had a team-high 13 points, including nine in the third quarter to pull the Lady Vikings within 4 at 33-29.

Sutherlin then scored the final 7 points of the quarter and the first 4 of the fourth to build a 16-point lead, 45-29.

Siuslaw never got closer than 12 the rest of the way.

Sutherlin plays in the 3A Far West League with St. Mary's (Medford), South Umpqua, Douglas, Cascade Christian and Brookings-Harbor. …
