Siuslaw's Lady Vikings don't need any convincing that Marshfield is the best team in Class 4A girls basketball.

The top-ranked Pirates, the defending state champions, rolled to a 60-24 victory Friday over Siuslaw in a Sky-Em League game at Glenn Butler Court.

Marshfield improved to 20-1 overall and 8-0 in league, while Siuslaw fell to 4-18 and 0-8.

The Lady Vikings have two dates remaining this season, hosting Elmira on Tuesday on senior recognition night and visiting Junction City to close the season on Thursday, Valentine's Day.

Seniors on the Siuslaw roster include Hailee Edgerly, Madison Reynolds, Alyssa Richards and Lillian Wenham.

Sophomores Lindsey Long and Gracie Freudenthal led the Lady Vikings with 6 points and 13 rebounds, respectively. Both fouled out.

Senior Tess Garrett had a game-high 15 points for the Pirates, with senior McKayla Myrand adding 11.

Garrett scored 9 points in the first quarter as Marshfield built a 21-8 lead. The Pirates outscored Siuslaw 17-2 in the second quarter for a 38-10 halftime lead.

Marshfield scored 12 of the first 14 points after the break for a 50-12 lead, then let the reserves play the rest of the game.

In other league games Friday, Cottage Grove won 52-29 at Elmira and Marist beat visiting Junction City, 56-44.

Marshfield leads the Sky-Em at 8-0. Marist is 6-2, Cottage Grove 5-3, Junction City 4-4, Elmira 1-7 and Siuslaw 0-8.
