Sutherlin senior reliever Rylee Parsons picked up the win in the opener and snuffed a Siuslaw rally in the nightcap as the Bulldogs swept the Lady Vikings in a nonleague softball doubleheader at the Siuslaw Softball Field, 9-8 and 14-12.

Siuslaw, 0-3, will play Tuesday at Pleasant Hill. Sutherlin, 2-1, hosts Glide in a doubleheader Tuesday.

In the opener, Siuslaw led 8-4 through four innings. Sutherlin chipped away with 2 in the fifth, 2 in the sixth and the go-ahead run in the seventh.

Senior Hayley Meier had a double and a run scored to lead the Lady Vikings. Aurora Cheatam was 4-for-5 with an RBI for the Bulldogs.

In the second game, Siuslaw freshman Bailey Overton was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored, 3 RBIs, a double, a triple and 2 stolen bases, while senior Lexi Smith had a double, an RBI and 2 runs scored.

Sutherlin outhit Siuslaw in the two games, 22-9. Siuslaw also committed 10 errors — including seven in the second game.

"Vikings showed their grit in the bottom of the fifth inning of the second game of the doubleheader," Siuslaw coach Sean O'Mara said.

"We were down 14-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning with daylight running out. The athletes combined for eight runs — with six coming with two outs, five walks, four hits — three singles and a bases-clearing triple — and two stolen bases."
