For those waiting for Joe Dotson's final run at an NAIA decathlon title, you will have to wait until next year.

"He redshirted this year outdoors, so he's got one year left," Southern Oregon track and field coach Grier Gatlin said.

Dotson, Siuslaw Class of 2015, is a four-time NAIA All-American in track and field, three times in the decathlon outdoors and most recently in the indoor heptathlon.

Dotson was fifth in the decathlon as a freshman, second as a sophomore and fourth as a junior to earn All-American status three times.

Dotson placed sixth in the heptathlon this past March to take All-American honors at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Brookings, S.D.

Southern Oregon has 17 men and women athletes who have qualified for the 68th annual NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships next week in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Joe Dotson won't be one of them.

But expect it next year.
