Hannah Rannow second in El Jefe girls 800

Siuslaw junior Hannah Rannow placed second Friday between two South Eugene runners in the El Jefe girls 800 meters at South Eugene High School.

Rannow finished in 2 minutes, 20.34a seconds. South Eugene junior Madison Elmore won in 2:12.69a and sophomore Gretchen Schwartz was third in 2:22.08a.

Siuslaw sophomore Brea Blankenship was eighth in 2:30.46a.

Siuslaw junior Brendon Jensen was the top Viking in the boys 800, finishing ninth in 2:06.96a. Walla Walla Valley (Wash.) senior Justin Roosma won in 1:57.31a.

Siuslaw junior Kiger Johnson was 12th in the 19-runner field in 2:10.00a, while teammate Jaxson Jensen, a sophomore, was 16th in 2:14.12a.

The El Jefe is considered an out-of-season event, and Oregon School Activities Association rules do not allow athletes to wear school uniforms.
