Bob Rannow of Florence is on the road to qualifying for the Boeing Classic on professional golf's Champions Tour.

Rannow, 50, the PGA pro at Ocean Dunes Golf Links, tees off Tuesday in a 32-player qualifier at the High Cedar Golf Course near Ortig, Wash.

The Boeing Classic is Aug. 19-25 at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge in Snowqualmie, Wash.

Rannow posted a 3-under-par 68 last Thursday for the best score among 47 golfers in a prequalifier. The top five from that one-day event advanced to Tuesday's qualifier.

Rannow had five birdies, 11 pars and two bogeys for his round, with both bogeys on par-5 holes.

It's been an eventful summer for Rannow, who played in the U.S. Senior Open in June at the Warren Course at Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.

Rannow fashioned a 71-74—145 over two rounds, missing the cut for weekend play by four shots.

Rannow was one of two golfers to advance to the Senior Open from a qualifier in Woodburn earlier in June.
