Rannow, Madden finish 2-3 in state event


Siuslaw seniors Hannah Rannow and Chloe Madden finished second and third Saturday to help the Timberhill Harriers run off with the girls 15-18 title at the USATF Oregon Association Junior Olympic Championships at Monmouth.

Timberhill Harriers teammate Hannah Hernandez finished first in the 5,000-meter cross country event at Western Oregon University's Ash Creek Preserve in 19 minutes, 3.77 seconds.

Rannow finished in 19:33.98 and Madden in 20:52.94.

Siuslaw freshman Kyle Hughes placed seventh to help the Timberhill Harriers win the boys 13-14 title, running the 4,000-meter course in 14:01.62.

The top 35 individuals and top five teams in each age group advance to the Region 13 Championships, scheduled for this coming Saturday at Lane Community College in Eugene.
