The Siuslaw Vikings' boys basketball team has a chance this week to make a major statement in Sky-Em League play.

The Vikings currently share first place with Marist Catholic and Marshfield. They play both this week.

Siuslaw hosts Marist Catholic on Tuesday and Marshfield on Friday.

Tipoff is 5:45 p.m. both nights. The girls' games follow the boys' both nights.

Coast Radio and the NFHS Network are scheduled to carry all the games.

Vikings sophomore Chad Hughes sank a 5-foot shot in the waning seconds of overtime Friday as Siuslaw won its league opener at Cottage Grove, 56-54.

The win lifted Siuslaw to 7-8 overall. Marist Catholic is 11-3 and ranked No. 3 in Class 4A by the Oregon School Activities Association.

In other games Tuesday, Cottage Grove is at Marshfield and Junction City at Elmira.
