Vikings' Delamora second at Cottage Grove

Siuslaw freshman Yoskar Delamora took second place Saturday at the Cottage Grove Invitational, the top finish by a Vikings wrestler in the two-day event.

Top-seeded Blake Niemann of Philomath won by decision over Delamora in the 106-pound final, 10-5.

Other Vikings placing Saturday included:

  • Mason Buss finished third at 120 and scored 25 team points
  • Ryan Jennings fifth at 160 and scored 12 team points
  • Christian Newlan sixth at 195 and scored 13 team points
  • Matthew Horrillo sixth at 285 and scored 13 team points

Others scoring for the Vikings included Elijah LaCosse (138 pounds) 13 points, JC Gentry (195) 10, Jesus Garcia (170) 7, Hunter Petterson (126) 3 and Matt Shick (145) 3.

The Vikings finished ninth in a field of 30 schools with 123 points. Grants Pass won with 387.5.
