The Siuslaw Vikings continue to set the pace in Class 4A cross country.

Saturday, the Vikings posted dominant team victories in the Sky-Em League meet at Marist Catholic in Eugene.

The Siuslaw boys, taking five of the top six spots in a field of 45, scored 16 points to win. Marist was second with 53, Marshfield had 80, Junction City 101 and Cottage Grove 139.

The Lady Vikings' band of five won the team title with 19, with Marist second with 36. Junction City, Marshfield, Elmira and Cottage Grove had runners, but not enough to score.

Siuslaw junior Chad Hughes won the boys title with a time of 17 minutes, 2.28 seconds, with sophomores Samuel Ulrich (17:27.46) and Kyle Hughes (17:34.35) and senior Ryan Jennings (17:45.91) taking the next three slots.

Senior Jaxson Jensen was sixth in 18:05.56.

Siuslaw junior Rylee Colton (20:01.57) was runner-up to Junction City senior Anika Thompson, who won in 18:08.10.

Seniors Gracie Freudenthal (21>22.27) and Brea Blankenship (22:05.54) were fifth and eighth, while freshmen Jane Lacouture (22:23.00) and Corduroy Holbrook (22:36.26) were ninth and 10th in a field of 24.
