Marshfield junior shortstop Wyatt Peck pounded three doubles Tuesday to power the Pirates to a 20-7 victory over the Siuslaw Vikings in Sky-Em League baseball at Jiggs Dodson Field.

Siuslaw, 1-2, plays a doubleheader at Marist Catholic on Friday. First pitch is 3 p.m. Marshfield, 3-1, hosts Cottage Grove in a twin bill.

"I want to talk positive about our kids," Siuslaw coach Tom Shinn told Coast Radio following the game.

"I've got a great bunch of kids, working hard to get better every day."

The Pirates had 15 hits, took advantage of six Vikings errors and scored in every inning, including six in the seventh.

Sophomore catcher Ian Sissel was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored to lead the Vikings. Senior rightfielder Clay Kramer was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Junior shortstop Beau Erickson was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases.

"I was pleased with the resiliency of the team," Shinn said. "Being down big in the fifth inning would have been really easy to give in.

"But the men worked themselves back into the game."
