Vikings will battle each other on Tuesday

The Vikings will hold an intrasquad meet Tiesday, with the district championships less than two weeks away.

The Siuslaw Vikings track and field teams will not be on the road Tuesday at all.

Not to Newport, where they were banned, nor to Junction City, where they would have competed against four other Sky-Em League schools.

"We have decided to have a bit of a limited intra-squad meet instead," Vikings coach Chris Johnson said.

"This will be some of our kids' last meet, and we couldn't have spectators at Junction City, so we thought this would be a good alternative."

The boys and girls teams will compete Friday at the annual Wally Ciochetti Invitational in Cottage Grove.

The it's the district and state championships on back-to-back Friday-Saturdays, May 14-15 and May 21-22, both meets at Hans Petersen Field.
