Rylee Colton finishes third at Nike Portland

Siuslaw senior Rylee Colton ran a personal-record 19 minutes, 15.8 seconds Saturday to lead the Lady Vikings to a 10th-place finish in the Girls Division 2 Varsity 5K in the Nike Portland cross country race at Blue Lake Regional Park in Fairview.

Lincoln of Portland dominated with 36 points, with sophomore Keira Saavedra first in a PR 19:01.5 and junior Eva Novy-Hildesley second in a PR 19:14.9, less than a second ahead of Colton.

South Salem was second with 92 and Walla Walla (Wash.) third with 146.

Colton lopped 17 seconds off her previous best of 19:32.8 which she set as a sophomore at the 2019 Sky-Em League championships.

Siuslaw sophomore Jane Lacouture was second for the Lady Vikings, finishing 42nd (47th overall) in 21:44.6.

Freshman Maya Wells was third for Siuslaw in a PR 22:00.4, finishing 49th (56th overall).

Siuslaw sophomore Corduroy Holbrook was 70th (81st) in 22:45.3 and freshman Macy McNeill 76th (89th) in 23:17.9.

Freshman Addison McNeill raced, but did not finish, dropping out after the two-mile split.

Some 122 runners finished the 5,000-meter course.

Colton was 13th at the 1-mile mark, fifth at 2 miles, fourth at the 4K split, edging Southridge junior Erin Cosgrove by less than a second to take third.

Next up for the Vikings is their legendary home meet, the Woahink Lake Invitational at Honeyman State Park.
