SUTHERLIN — Siuslaw senior Brody Terry scored 21 of his game-high 26 points in the second half Tuesday as the Vikings rolled to a 47-20 boys basketball victory over the Sutherlin Bulldogs.

"Execution and discipline has been our biggest hurdles this season," Siuslaw coach Dylan Perry said. "Typically this isn't the case with a senior dominated team.

"They need to decide how their season story ends. It is completely in their hands. It can be a wonderful end to their high school basketball careers if they buy in and are disciplined. However, if they don't, it will be a rough road ahead for them."

The Vikings (6-4) will play Hidden Valley (1-7) at 7 p.m. Friday at Hidden Valley in Grants Pass in their Sky-Em/Skyline Crossover opener. Siuslaw meets Mazama (4-7) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, also at North Valley High School.

"We will be missing some key components," Perry said, "but I'm excited to see some younger guys step up and get a chance to prove themselves at the varsity level. And hopefully prepare them for the tough Sky-Em League schedule."

Siuslaw outscored Sutherlin 27-4 in the middle two quarters to blow open the game, leading 7-6 after the first quarter, 16-8 at halftime and 34-10 entering the final quarter.

"We started off slow because of poor execution," Perry said. "Once we settled down and we eventually bought into what we were trying to do in the second and third quarter. After that we never looked back."

Tuesday's win was the second this season over Sutherlin. Siuslaw romped 61-27 Dec. 17 in a game played at Creswell.

"Our effort was 100 times better," Sutherlin coach Chris Mock said. "It was a much better effort defensively, but we couldn't make a shot (in the second and third quarters)."

Sutherlin, a member of the 3A Far West League, fell to 2-8.

Siuslaw opens Sky-Em League play at Marist on Friday, Jan. 14.
