Sandpines event raises $7K for SOS

CRESCENT CITY (CA) TEAM WINS SIUSLAW OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT

Mitchell's Marauders of Crescent City, Calif., posted a low-gross score of 61 Saturday to win the Siuslaw Open Golf Tournament at Sandpines Golf Links.

"The weather was beautiful, the course was in good shape, and people won a lot of prizes," said tournament co-director David Wiegan. "The tournament went great."

Mitchell's Marauders was comprised of Jeff Mitchell, Tom Owen, Rich Taylor and Norm Wilder.

"There was some real excitement at hole No. 5 when Jeff Mitchell came within 12 inches of a hole-in-one," said Wiegan. A hole-in-one would have earned Mitchell a new Ford Focus from Johnston Motors in Florence.

Dr. Brian Holmes won the putting contest, sinking a 60-footer.

"Siuslaw Outreach Services is very appreciative of all the business which supported the event and made it successful," said Wiegan.
