Siuslaw has 7 home games on schedule


The Siuslaw Vikings girls basketball team will be playing seven of its 16 games at home, according to a tentative schedule posted on the school's website.

Practice begins Nov. 16 for the team, which will be under first-year coach Clint Tatum, who is succeeding the retired Carl Johnson.

Most of the girls' schedule is part of a doubleheader with the boys, including all Far West League games.

Preleague doubleheaders include games with Coquille on Dec. 4, at Phoenix on Dec. 5, Cottage Grove Dec. 18 and at Elmira Jan. 5.

The girls will play at Newport on Dec. 8 and at Junction City on Dec. 10 on dates the boys will play the same schools at home.

The Vikings open Far West League play on Friday, Jan. 15, at South Umpqua.

First home league game is Tuesday, Jan. 19, against Marshfield.
