Nine Vikings honored as FWL all-stars


Dylan Jennings, Preston Mitchell and Kenneth Thrall were Far West League first-team all-stars. Tim Dodson was co-coach of the year.

Seniors Dylan Jennings, Preston Mitchell and Kenneth Thrall are among nine Siuslaw Vikings named to the 2015 Far West League coaches' all-star football team.

The Vikings' Tim Dodson was named co-coach of the year along with Gary Prince of North Bend.

Thrall was named as a first-team running back, linebacker and punter and as a second-team placekicker.

Mitchell was first team as both quarterback and defensive back.

Jennings was first team as an offensive lineman and second team as a defensive lineman.

Other Vikings honored were seniors Scott Gordon, Michael Mason and Reese Siegel and juniors Cade Clawson, Robert Fleming and Michael Larson.

Second-team honors went to Gordon, wide receiver; Mason, defensive lineman; Siegel, tight end; Fleming, offensive lineman, and Larson, center.

Clawson was an honorable mention at running back.

North Bend senior running back Matt McAllister was named player of the year on offense, while Marshfield senior lineman Joe Rutheford was named player of the year on defense.
