Mans, Binghams earn all-state honors

Morgan and Murray Bingham transferred to Siuslaw High School this summer, and are now all-state cross-country runners.

Some high school all-star teams need a plebiscite, or just a consensus of coaches, but cross country runners know where they stand almost as soon as they cross the finish line.

Both Far West League and state all-stars are determined by finish, according to Siuslaw's Chris Johnson, who earned league coach of the year honors with the first-place finish of the Vikings' girls team.

Runners finishing 1 through 7 are first team, 8-14 second team, 15-21 third team, 22-28 honorable mention, said Johnson.
