Elmira defeats visiting Vikings, 73-34


Junior Destinie Tatum notched her fifth double-double in seven games this season but it wasn't enough as the Siuslaw Vikings lost at Elmira in a nonleague girls basketball game Tuesday night, 73-34.

Tatum had team highs of 15 points and 10 rebounds and is now averaging 13.6 points and 12.4 rebounds a game for the Vikings.

Freshman Madison Reynolds had 9 rebounds, 2 blocked shots and a steal for Siuslaw. Senior Sierra Potter had a pair of 3-pointers.

Siuslaw (1-7) hosts 2A Waldport (0-7) at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in a nonleague game.

The Vikings have two Sky-West Crossover games to end both the week and preleague play.

Siuslaw plays Phoenix on Friday and Klamath Union on Saturday, both at Douglas High School in Winston.

The Vikings open Far West League play on Friday, Jan. 15, at South Umpqua.

Siuslaw's league home opener is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, against Marshfield.
