Vikings seek first win tonight at home


The Siuslaw Vikings boys basketball team takes on 2A Waldport on Wednesday in search of its first win of the season.

Siuslaw fell at Elmira on Tuesday night, 51-30, dropping the Vikings to 0-8. Trent Reavis had 10 points to lead Siuslaw.

It was Elmira's second win over the Vikings this season. The Falcons won 56-46 on Dec. 11 at Siuslaw.

Waldport comes into Wednesday's game with a 4-3 record. The Irish have eight seniors on their 12-player roster and four juniors.

The Vikings have two Sky-West Crossover Tournament games to end both the week and preleague play.

Siuslaw plays Klamath Union on Friday and Phoenix on Saturday, both at Phoenix High School. The Vikings lost at Phoenix on Dec. 5, 55-38, in their second game of the season.

Siuslaw opens Far West League play on Friday, Jan. 15, at South Umpqua.

The Vikings' league home opener is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, against Marshfield.
