Kenneth Hampsten and Doreen MacNeil got the new year off on a winning note Thursday, scoring 13.5 points to capture the Florence Duplicate Bridge Club's weekly game at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.

Lloyd Little and Marilyn Buchanan were second with 11 and John Weatherwax and Georgia Farman third with 10.

David Gustafson and Marian Weiss were fourth and Roberta Parker and Anna Hendershot fifth.

The Florence club is Oregon Central Coast unit 572 of the American Contract Bridge League, which sanctions the weekly games.

Club play is usually 12:30 p.m. Thursdays at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 19th and Tamarack.
