First-place Bruins defeat Vikings, 63-27


Siena Worthey had 17 points and Drew Farmer 10 Friday as the Brookings-Harbor Bruins defeated the Siuslaw Vikings, 63-27, in a Far West League girls basketball game in Brookings.

The first-place Bruins, rated No. 6 in 4A by the Oregon School Activities Association, improved to 3-0 in league and 13-4 overall.

The Vikings fell to 1-2 in league and 4-10 overall.

Siuslaw plays Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Douglas, then completes the first round of league play on Friday, Jan. 29, hosting North Bend.

Junior Destinie Tatum led the Vikings against the Bruins with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

Senior Taylor Dotson had 9 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.

Siuslaw shot .279 from the field (12 of 43), and hit 2 of 10 free throws.

The Vikings committed 27 turnovers in the game.

In other league games Friday, Marshfield beat North Bend, 40-31, and Douglas beat South Umpqua, 59-29.
