Brookings-Harbor holds off Siuslaw, 44-33


Senior guard Brandon Curtis tossed in 13 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter Friday to lead the Brookings-Harbor Bruins to a 44-33 victory over the Siuslaw Vikings in a Far West League boys basketball game at Brookings.

The Bruins improved their record to 2-1 in league and 6-10 overall.

The Vikings are now 0-3 in league and 0-14 overall.

Siuslaw next plays Douglas at Winston on Tuesday, Jan. 26. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.

Next home game for the Vikings is Friday, Jan. 29, against North Bend, a game that will conclude the first round of league play.

Siuslaw hosts Sweet Home in a nonleague game Tuesday, Feb. 2.

Sweet Home (3-10) currently is rated No. 39 among 40 schools in Class 4A by the Oregon School Activities Association.

The Vikings are No. 40.

In other league games Friday, No. 3-rated Marshfield beat archrival North Bend, 43-26, and South Umpqua routed Douglas, 49-30.
