Trojans topple visiting Lady Vikings, 78-34


The Siuslaw Vikings dropped their third game in a row Tuesday, falling to the Douglas Trojans in a Far West League girls basketball game at Douglas High School in Winston, 78-34.

The Vikings fell to 1-3 in league and 4-11 overall. The Trojans are 3-1 and 11-5.

Siuslaw closes the first round of league play Friday, hosting North Bend at 6 p.m.

The Vikings have seven games remaining this season, five at home.

Tuesday, Destinie Tatum, Annabel Tupua and Taylor Dotson had 7 points each to lead the Vikings in scoring. Tatum also had a team-high 9 rebounds, Tapua 7 and Dotson 4.

Sierra Potter had 4 of Siuslaw's 11 steals.

The Vikings hit 25 percent of their shots from the field, 11 of 44, and just under 40 percent of their free throws, 11 of 28.

In other games Tuesday, Brookings-Harbor improved to 4-0 in league with a 45-30 victory over North Bend and Marshfield defeated South Umpqua, 60-37.
