Vikings top Junction City, even record at 3-3


 

Junior pitcher Heidi Jones evened her record at 3-3 and was 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored Saturday to fire the Siuslaw Vikings to a 4-3 victory over visiting Junction City in a nonleague girls softball game.

Battery mate Nikki Launius, the Vikings' junior catcher, was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, junior Chehalis Stinger had an RBI double and later scored and junior Katherine Dodson had an RBI single.

Jones struck out 6, walked 2 and scattered 7 hits while allowing no earned runs, according to the Siuslaw official scorer.

The Vikings, 3-3, close out their preleague schedule with a game Tuesday at Tillamook.

Siuslaw opens Far West League play Friday with a doubleheader at Marshfield. First pitch is 3 p.m.

Junction City, 4-4, opens Sky-Em League play Monday with a home game against Sutherlin.

Siuslaw beat visiting Sutherlin, 15-8, on Thursday.
