Vikings Oliver, Reavis win titles in Roseburg


Junior Carissa Oliver easily won the discus and sophomore Trent Reavis bested 24 competitors to win the shot put Saturday for the top finishes among Siuslaw athletes at the Jim Robinson Bigfoot Pepsi Twilight Invitational track and field meet at Roseburg High School.

Oliver won by more than 11 feet with a personal-best throw of 124 feet, 6 inches, while Reavis heaved the shot 48-11 to win by 2 inches over Tyler Sconce of Roseburg.

Oliver also placed seventh among 26 competitors in the shot put (33-2) and Reavis was fourth among 19 athletes in the discus (133-2).

Some 17 schools from multiple classifications competed in the nonscoring event, which had a select Vikings team of three boys and nine girls.

Other top finishes for Siuslaw included:

Senior Mikaela Siegel, who was second in the 100 hurdles (16.21a), fifth in the triple jump (33-4) and ninth in the long jump (15-6.5);

Junior Annmarie Precht, third in the long jump (17-0) and fourth in the 200 (27.51a);

Junior Destinie Tatum third in the 400 (1:02.30a) and 10th in the high jump (4-8); and

Junior Celie Mans third in the 3,000 (10:35.16a).

For the Vikings' boys, freshman Murray Bingham was seventh in the 1,500 (4:15.0ha) and junior Jack Pickell was 12th in the 3,000 (9:39.21a).

Also competing for the Siuslaw girls were freshman Kaeli Ramos and juniors Morgan Bingham, Kaylee Graham and Abby Watkins.

Morgan Bingham was sixth in the 1,500 (4:58.3ha).

Graham was sixth in the 100 hurdles (17.65a).

Watkins was sixth in the long jump (16-1).

The Siuslaw girls' 4x100 relay was third in 51.73a and the girls' 4x400 relay was seventh in 4:27.36a.
