Pickell, Williams double winners in JV meet


Siuslaw junior Jack Pickell and senior teammate Tyler Williams won two events each Friday at the Up & Comers JV Invite track and field meet at Philomath High School.

Pickell won the 800 meters in a personal best 2:10.31a and the 1,500 in a personal best 4:25.48a, while Williams was first in the 200 in 24.83a and the 400 in a personal best 54.00a.

Vikings field specialists Dylan Jennings and Marshall Teter, both seniors, also won, Jennings the shot put at 39 feet, 8 inches and Teter the javelin in matching his personal best 140-8.

Siuslaw senior Sierra Potter won the 100 hurdles in a personal best 19.65a. She also was second in both the 300 hurdles in a personal best 55.90a and the triple jump at 26 feet even.

OREGON RELAYS

Siuslaw junior Carissa Oliver tossed the discus a personal-best 124 feet, 11 inches Friday to finish fifth place in the high school division of the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field.

Oliver currently has the top discus throw in the state this season among 4A girls.

In other events, Vikings junior Morgan Bingham was 16th in the girls 3,000 meters in 10:45.36a, while junior Annmarie Precht was 12th and junior Abby Watkins 27th in the long jump.

Precht went 16 feet, 2.5 inches and Watkins 14 feet, 4 inches.

In the boys competition, sophomore Trent Reavis was 14th in the shot put with a heave of 46-6.75.

Siuslaw sophomore Josh Payne was fourth in both the wheelchair 100 meters and the wheelchair 400, clocking personal bests of 21.59a and 1:27.75a.
