Vikings' home finale Tuesday vs. Douglas

The Siuslaw Vikings baseball team moved into sole possession of fourth place in the Far West League by splitting a doubleheader Friday with the Brookings-Harbor Bruins at Jiggs Dodson Field.

The Vikings broke open a tied game with six runs in the bottom of the sixth to win the opener, 11-7.

The Bruins pounded 10 hits in the second game to win 13-2 in five innings.

Siuslaw, 7-12 overall, is now 4-7 in league, a game ahead of Douglas, which was swept Friday at South Umpqua, 7-2 and 8-4.

Douglas, 3-8 and 5-13, visits Siuslaw on Tuesday. First pitch is 5 p.m.

Brookings-Harbor is third place at 7-4 and 13-9 overall.

First-place North Bend swept a doubleheader at Marshfield, 3-0 and 6-0, and is now 10-1 and 15-4. Marshfield fell to 1-10 and 3-15.

Junior Michael Larson picked up the victory in Game 1 Friday against Brookings-Harbor, combining with senior Scott Gordon and freshman Gabe Simington on a 5-hitter.

Bruins sophomore Cody Testa, who shut out the Vikings 3-0 earlier in the season, absorbed the loss.

Gordon, senior Michael Mason and junior Brogan Cornish each had two hits as every Viking in the lineup scored at least once except for Larson.
