Viking eighth-grade boys dominate district


The Siuslaw Middle School eighth-grade boys dominated the 11-school competition Wednesday in the season-ending Far West League track and field championships at the Prefontaine Track in Coos Bay.

The Vikings totaled 144 points to easily outdistance second-place Marshfield, which had 119.

The Siuslaw eighth-grade girls were fifth among 10 schools, the seventh-grade boys fifth among 11 schools and the seventh-grade girls fourth among 10 schools.

Event winners for Siuslaw included:

Boys eighth grade

  • 800 — Brendon Jensen, 2:22.30a
  • 1,500 — Kiger Johnson, 4:44.94a
  • Discus — Ryan Rendon-Padilla, 107-3
  • High jump — Sam Myers, 5-2

Girls eighth grade

  • 4x400 relay — Bryn Clement, Trinity Erickson, Lillian Wells, CaSandra Gardner, 4:57.01a.
