The 2016 Siuslaw Vikings football team appears to have nine lives.

That's nine seniors, nine juniors and nine sophomores. There also are eight freshmen on the 35-player roster, which still has a slim chance for additions before school opens in early September.

First-year head coach Jamin Pool released the roster Monday (Aug. 22) ahead of Friday's annual Blue-Gold Game at Hans Petersen Field.

Kickoff is 7 p.m.

This year's roster includes two returning second-team Far West League all-stars on the offensive line, seniors Robert Fleming and Michael Larson.

Assistant coaches are Jerry Fleming, Mike Blankenship, Kris O'Connor, Pat Wondra, Dennis Davidson and Kellyn Davidson.

The season opener is Sept. 2 at Elmira. The home opener is Sept. 16 vs. Newport.

The Vikings were 6-3 in 2015, the 20th and final season for Tim Dodson.

A "Tim Dodson Afterglow" community tribute will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Elks Lodge, 1686 12th Street.

Bring a side dish, but no alcoholic beverages. A no-host bar will be open for the event.
