Elmira rolled up 356 yards on the ground and scored in each quarter en route to a 35-14 victory over the Siuslaw Vikings in a nonleague high school football game Friday at Elmira High School.

Siuslaw junior quarterback Jared Brandt was 23-for-31 passing for 270 yards, including an 80-yard strike to junior tight end Trent Reavis in the first quarter.

Reavis had nine catches for 176 yards.

Junior running back Quincy Rusk led the Vikings on the ground, rushing 16 times for 54 yards and a touchdown.

The game featured first-year coaches on both sides of the field, Jamin Pool for the Vikings and Justin Peeler for the Falcons.

Siuslaw plays at Pleasant Hill in a nonleague game this coming Friday. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Pleasant Hill lost at Dayton on Thursday, 46-0.

Siuslaw hosts Newport on Friday, Sept. 16, in the Vikings' home opener. Newport lost at Cottage Grove on Friday, 59-7.

In other games involving Far West League schools, Marshfield scored a touchdown on the last play of the game to win at Cascade, 35-29; North Bend won at Astoria, 31-21; Douglas fell to visiting Valley Catholic, 41-28; Brookings-Harbor lost 17-7 at North Valley, and South Umpqua lost at Mazama, 49-13.
