The Siuslaw Vikings volleyball team opens Far West League play Tuesday, hosting the South Umpqua Lancers at 6:30 p.m. at Glenn Butler Court.

The Vikings fell to 2-4 Saturday with 2-0 losses to Class 5A schools Hermiston and Mountain View (Bend) at the Canby Varsity Tournament.

Hermiston beat Siuslaw 25-19, 25-22 and Mountain View beat Siuslaw 25-7, 25-20.

South Umpqua is 1-3, with a preleague sweep of North Valley and losses to Sutherlin, Hidden Valley and Cottage Grove.

Siuslaw has wins over Junction City and Elmira and losses to Philomath and Pleasant Hill.

In other league openers Tuesday, Marshfield (4-6) is at Brookings-Harbor (2-5) and Douglas (1-2) at North Bend (4-1).

Thursday, Siuslaw plays at Marshfield, South Umpqua at North Bend and Brookings-Harbor at Douglas.

North Bend is No. 11 in the Oregon School Activities Association rankings as of 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11.

South Umpqua is No. 19, Marshfield No. 22, Douglas No. 25, Siuslaw No. 26 and Brookings-Harbor No. 31.
